Hey ya’ll! I’m excited to be back after a bit of a break. We’re in the middle of the season, which is always a busy time… but I had to get back to talking about one of my great passions: fashion. Let me know what you’ve been seeing as new trends this year and drop any questions you have for me below. 

Alright, let’s get into it.

After all the galas I've attended, I've learned that the themes that sound simple on paper are often the ones that cut the deepest — and Costume Art feels exactly like that. 

The premise is elegantly straightforward: the body as canvas, clothing as fine art. But everyone who has walked that carpet and sat in that room knows that when the Met gets it right, the concept stops being intellectual. It becomes visceral. This theme feels like a homecoming of sorts, a formal acknowledgment of something those of us in fashion have always quietly known — that what we wear has never just been fabric and thread, it has always been expression, statement, and, in the hands of the right designer, pure art.

What I'll be watching for this year is how guests navigate the line between wearing art and becoming it. That distinction matters more than people realize. I've seen plenty of stunning gowns and suits on those steps that belong in a magazine, and I've seen a rare few that belong in a museum — this theme demands the latter. The most memorable Met moments I've witnessed weren't just beautiful, they were iconic. They made you stop mid-conversation and stare. 

Costume Art sets the bar at exactly that height, and I think the designers and talent who truly understand the assignment will deliver some of the most breathtaking looks the institution has ever seen.

What a wonderful look. The scarf tells a story of its own, but the proportions are great, the colors are amazing, and the materials really really work well together. Probably one of, if not my favorite look from the weekend.

It’s something about an all white that I just love. He did a really good job of not trying too hard, and just putting it on and repping it his own way.

I really love this on Norm. Anytime anybody’s rocking their own stuff their own way is great, especially for his first All-Star game. Shout out to Norm for doing things his way, repping his logo, which is great. Big fan of that, especially.

All black is good. The turtleneck is a good touch. Gives it a sense of flavor. That works with all black looks, especially with a turtleneck under a nice blazer. Always works well.

We’ve talked about scarves, and their popularity continues… just with a new flare. This Spring, I predict we’ll see a lot of scarves as tops, not just accessories. Look for scarves that you love that you can invest in for life. They shouldn’t feel ‘trendy’, but be more collectors items. Truly fashion as art.

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and John F Kennedy Jr ever since Love Story dropped on Hulu. Yes, both of them have iconic style; but no, not everyone needs to run out and buy a Calvin Klein pencil skirt or a backwards hat with a suit. Know what is true to you, and don’t just dress to the moment.
